Who is Tiena?

Tiena is the designer and the name of the brand. My first name is Tiena and it only seemed fitting to name the brand T I E N A after pondering for many years on what the name of the brand should be.

What is an independent designer brand?

An independent designer brand is just that. It is independent of any large corporate oversight or funding. I am responsible for all efforts to bring you a finished garment and designer experience from idea to finished product on a small and intimate scale.

All garments, prints, and handbags shown on the site are designed by Tiena, made and shipped from Memphis, TN. Fabrics are sourced throughout the United States and Europe. Handbags are currently manufactured in Portugal.

What is small batch production?

Small batch production is the production of garments that are produced in small runs of inventory made available to you to purchase versus mass production. Our clothes are designed, patterned, sampled, and fit right here in my studio by me. We sometimes utilize contract sewing to assist with the production of garments on an as needed basis. By utilizing the small batch production model, it allows me to produce just enough garments that we can handle as a business.

This may mean that items sell out quickly, which can be frustrating when a product you want is out of stock. It is my hope that we can all work towards becoming more selective about the products we bring into our lives, choosing only items that we absolutely love, and that we can have your grace and mutual understanding as we work to grow our business at a proper scale.

How is sustainability prioritized?

We use primarily plant-based fabrics in our garments i.e, different types of cottons and cotton blends, silks, and silk blends. In addition, we keep our fabric scraps for repurposing instead of disposing of them. Also, for our prints we utilize companies that print with organic dyes.

How are products priced?

Our products are priced based on the originality of the design; craftmanship; cost and quality of materials; and the cost of labor and production. In addition, for maintenance of the standard and level of quality that we want to put out in the world.
